Time for round 2! Photos from my hometown in Norway between 1970 and 1990.

There’s a 1st gen Caravan/Voyager in the first pic.

Those Volvos in the 2nd pic are just mocking me with their clean, undamaged body panels. You guys can keep the Euro front, I’m one of the few who likes the American-style.

Nice spot! They were only sold as the Voyager here, but in surprising amounts. Then people realized that they drank gas like there was no tomorrow and went on to buy things like the Mitsubishi Space Wagon instead.

The amazing thing is that you can still find them like that in Norway and Sweden , although not in the same numbers as earlier.

Taunus or Cortina ?

There are two of them in the first photo, and at that point only the Taunus was sold here. The one with a readable plate is a 1979 1.6 L, that last passed the norwegian MOT test 12 days ago.

I’m no good with old Euro iron, but I do know that if Norway then was anything like Spain in the 80s those Levis for sale in the top pic were fucking expensive.

Quite a few Mitsubishis in the first pic, which have probably long vanished by now

Did the models over there have different drivetrains?!?
I get 24-26 mpg average from my 3.0 Caravan and 18-22 mpg average from my lifted/AT’d 3.3L Voyager, does the Space Wagon really do much better?

Apart from the diesel version, I suspect that the options were similar. Data from Auto Motor Sport says that the Mitsubishi with the 2.4 GDI did 25 mpg, while the Voyager 3.3 did 18 mpg. The Voyager 2.5 slots right inbetween.
Of course, once Opel launched their Zafira people stopped buying the Space Wagon as well..

That generation of Crowns
sold very well in Finland. But naturally most of them are gone.
You still see those in car gatherings.
